Firewire Audio interfaces

Hi,

Can anyone suggest FW interfaces which work with cat?

For this project i only need a good stereo out. In the future i could need more.

if you just need stereo - why you make it complicated -
just use the inbuilt output?

there is nothing wrong with that.

there are so many of these firewire devices. from legions of suppliers.

you will have to look the the user of the equipment in music scenarios-
you will find much contrary and contrariwise advice on the music users forums, both of reliability and driver suppport.

it is not at all possible to recommend any partilcular hardware and say whether it will work under all circumstances.

some companies were still updating their drivers for intel machines last time i checked.

suggest you buy something cheap- and if its drivers are flaky and crumbly then at least you didnt waste lots of money.

I used before a interface what goes from the POSLINK ( The Digital LED Output) for Balanced Audio,... I just do not remember the model, maybe someone here knows any of those, I heard from the sound guys is the best you can get on the computer Audio output.

- though im not going to go anywhere near to 'recommending' them.
they work have worked fine this year, a couple of years ago their drivers were horrible. these things are up and down all the time.

I've used the M-audio Super DAC-2496, which takes the TOSLINK optical audio out the bac of the mac and converts it to Balanced XLR outs

But, this item has been discontinued. You can still find them some places though.

I have an M-audio Super DAC-2496 - works great - conact me if you want to hire it...

Also tested an Alesis USB-Audio/Midi devive today (io/2) - worked well and has both Audio and MIDI onboard for about £100...
