To mount a drive internally- you MUST use a round cable which is terminated correctly at the drive end-

Go for the ACK-68I2-LVD-LP-Round-U320 - which is unterminated and use a TMC SCSI terminator:T68INT-PTLVD320 (tmcscsi.com). I find this a very satisfactory solution. For those people in Europe Nev at PID sells them.

in intel machines there is more space in the drive bay - so i think its better to get the terminated cable. otherwise you need 2 suppliers.

any suggestions on where to get the shock mount 3.5" to 5.25" adapter?
All I can find is the ones without any sort of shock mount.

This is Lindy in the UK but they are international including UK-

but as everything else is going to shake as well its not going to save much in the case of a drop... so i wouldnt really say this is necessary- and might reduce heat flow.
lindy has a large variety of drive brackets - as do many other companies

this is what frys in the US lists-
