Quartz Composer and embeded Movies

Hi Richard,
I know this isnt what you would normally want to do, but I'm trying to mask a movie using the least no. of layers.
I have a quartz composer file that I want to use to mask out sections of a movie that is playing in qc, this works fine and considerably better than trying to compress to a codec that supports alpha channels! Its a stationary matte so I thought Id give it a go, but catalyst only doesnt play the embeded movie (via image with movie) I dont need playback fx etc, just to mask the movie.
Is this a workable idea? Or any other ideas that can keep it on one layer?

You could also say what you tried to do in qc.

Maybe other people might be interested.
